Maureen Rigby Elliott
During my first year after graduation I worked for a Salt Lake City Dept. Store in gift wrap and modeling. In 1960 I married Bill Dolar, and we moved to Anchorage, Alaska where my first daughter, Colleen was born in 1961. After moving back to Bountiful, I was blessed with a son, Kevin, in 1963, followed by two daughters, Susan in 1966 and Paula in 1969. I returned to work in 1969 in retail & sales and entered into the fashion world. In 1975 I began 'Fashion by Maureen of Florida,' which grew by leaps and bounds. I moved back to Utah and continued with 'Fashion by Maureen.' Needing to finance my dream, I returned to retail at Hammond Toys. I married LeRoy Elliot in 1969, and we were sealed in the L.A. California Temple in 1988. I inherited 4 more children: Peter, Marie, Clair and Katherine. LeRoy and I have each lost a son. Prior to our marriage, LeRoy's 11 year old son, Peter Elliot, died in 1963. We lost my son, Kevin Dolar, in Jan. 2009. We are retired, but we each continue to enjoy our life's work. LeRoy does finish carpentering, and I still sew and design. We both enjoy doing temple work.
Bates School
I'm betting this school has sat empty for the past 50 years since Michigan consolidated most of its one room school house districts into large school districts. This is part of a fading town on M-72 between Traverse City and Kalkaska Michigan.
